A complex linear regression analysis was done to correlate the presumed date of conception with the rotation the resident was doing at the time. Inevitably, the residents were on their ER rotation at the time of presumed conception. This was felt to be due to the fact that ER is the first rotation of the residency where the residents get entire weekends off and they are actually able to spend adequate time with their spouses. This issue is being addressed for next year in two ways. First, the ER rotation is being moved to the third year in hope that most of the deliveries will occur after completion of the program. Second, beginning July 1st, all conjugal relations must be approved by the chief resident and the program director.
